Several times recently I have remarked to others that I think when we get to the judgment seat of Christ,

we may be very,

very surprised. Surprised that many times people that were well known, well thought of, well

spoken, may step to the background, step to the side, and poor, humble servants who simply were willing to be faithful to God in the background

will be brought to the forefront and will be rewarded richly for their labor.

You see, I think so many times we get caught up in the perceptions of people.

We get caught up in celebrity culture and this social media society that is so concerned

about appearances.

And I think that's why I study on principles of Christian stewardship is so necessary right

now because if you really want to make the most of all God

has given you, then you've got to ask yourself this question, who am I doing this for?

Am I doing this for my own pleasure?

Am I doing this for the praise of others?

Or am I truly doing this for the Lord?

Remember that motive matters. We return to 1st Corinthians

chapter 4 to our Lord's accounting office. We've learned a number of things already about God's

requirement of faithfulness, being more important than giftedness, about the connection between
