Okay, so it's the new year, and we're all thinking about getting back to the gym, even if it's just for like a week or two.

But during those glorious two weeks, you might stumble into a class in which everyone just seems to be really, really happy.

And there is a good chance that the class they're taking is Zumba.

Yes, this is Zumba. It is a kind of mashup of aerobics, and Latin dance, and hip hop, and it actually all began with the guy named Alberto Perez.

He goes by the name Beto. And Beto is a dancer by training. And back in the 90s, he was living in Cali, Colombia, which is where he's from.

He taught aerobics during the day to make extra money, and at night he would dance in a company.

Anyway, one day he was heading to his aerobics class when he realized that he left his regular music at home.

And the only music that I have with me in this moment was cassette with Latin music, more Colombia, merengue, salsa, different kinds of music.

When I start the class, I didn't say to my students, I make a mistake. I told them, listen, the class today.

I want to do something different. They say, OK, only follow me. And I start my class, and everybody loves it.
