19% of landlords that they surveyed have sold properties over the last year, and only 8% have bought.

This, of course, reduces supply, which you would expect to push rents up.

And that is exactly what has happened, according to data from the Office for National Statistics

which has found that rents have increased by 8.7% over the last year and that is notable because

they don't just look at newly advertised rents but also includes within tenancy rent increases

which tend to be lower so that is a number. Will rents continue to go up
